At 325 lbs., Dennis was hospitalized in 2008 with blood sugar over 800 and diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Working to improve his health, Dennis decided to join HRM after struggling to lose the weight on his own. With the help of HMR, Dennis has lost 135 lbs., dropping three pant sizes, from size XXL to L, and is no longer in need of daily insulin. With a goal of getting back to his Police Academy weight of 170 lbs, Dennis is determined to stay healthy and strong for life and credits HMR with helping him take control of his health.

I had done a couple of different diets over the years and lost some weight, but I always gained it back. The difference with this program is the people around you and the support Betty gives you 100% of the time. Seeing the progress up on the screen, being held accountable for what you're doing, and having that group support pushed me to my goal. I made it to 75 lbs. lost and decided to keep pushing to see if I could hit 100. Lo and behold, I hit 100 lbs. It's Betty, the program, and the support group all together that make it work.

Facing pre-diabetes, my doctor wanted me to start diabetic medication. My son was also getting married and I wanted to be proud of how I looked in his wedding photos. I didn't want to rely on medication for something I could control, so I decided to stay in Phase 1, the weight loss phase, until after the wedding. I lost 100 lbs. in Phase 1 and then went on to lose another 30 lbs. in phase 2, the maintenance phase. Better Together has helped me manage my health, stave off diabetes, and be proud of the person in the mirror.
